She is like a little sister to me; however, my feelings for her are anything but brotherly. I have watched her grow into this incredible woman. She is brilliant, strong, and breathtakingly beautiful. She has a curvy figure that leaves even a jaded freak like me tongue-tied. Whenever I need a shoulder, she’s always there. I’ve been waiting for her to realize that we are meant to be together. And then the inexplicable happened: she died in a car accident before I could make her truly mine. On a mission a few months later, I encountered a sassy MI6 agent who seemed incredibly familiar. Am I losing my mind? Malika: I’ve been waiting all of my life for his love… Sean is my best friend, my honorary brother. Don’t tell him, but I don’t want or need another brother. I’ve watched Sean with other women for years. I despaired that I would never have my chance with him. He came to me when he was at one of his low points, needing me to console him. I offered a shoulder to cry on. I had no idea that he would need more than a shoulder. He was a dominant and skillful lover, leaving me aching for much more. After such an amazing night, why doesn’t he remember our loving? Now time has run out for us, or should I say that a life-ending car accident has determined matters? ...

Another great story by this author. I love her stories where the heroines are pretending to be someone else or they are trying to out manoeuvre their men. I absolutely loved this story it was such a great read.I am loving all the alpha males who are mad for their women and chase them down for all they are worth.

3.5 StarsI read Book 1 (enjoyed it) in the Guardian Series and skipped Book 2 so I could jump right into Book 3 which has received rave reviews. The H/h basically grow up together and consider each other siblings, her feelings begin to change when she turns 18. The hero (26) has the decency to NOT let anything inappropriate happen. Early on, we learn that she is a genius. At the age of seven she exhibits a knack for complex fighting techniques with ease. At 19, she has B.S. degrees in foreign languages, chemistry, and engineering and was working on Ph.D. too plus she speaks eight different languages. Meanwhile, her twin, Malcolm, was just graduating high school at the time. At the age of 23, she's working for MI6 helping to prevent terrorist attacks. The h definitely had the right stuff and the right credentials but, she was just a little too unrealistic for me. Eventually the H/h reconnect, briefly disconnect and reconnect again. During the times they reconnect something does happen between them and it keeps happening. They keep pretending that nothing is happening because they're either pretending to be drunk, asleep or groggy. In the morning(s), if they stay that long, they act like they never had sex. Strange behavior, but true. There are recurring themes in this series: 1) the h is a virgin and gorgeous, 2) the H is OTT and is a very attractive, older Alpha male AND 3) there is always one (racist ranting) character deserving of being taken out to the woodshed. This time it's the heroes mother! Here's why:“How dare you take her side over mine? Amanda shouldn’t have to take orders from a damn mongrel.”“You can’t marry this bitch! I won’t allow it!” Sophia’s eyes bugged out of her head, and her lips were twisted in distaste.“I’m not having it!” Sophia ranted. “I won’t accept a dingy grandchild!”The h asks the H ...“Will your mother be living with us at any point in our marriage?” Sophia gasped in outrage. “Hell no!” Sean muttered.Not. Even. A. Slim. Possibility.Overall, I enjoyed the action scenes of the bad-ass ex-Navy Seal and his equally bad-ass future wife.

This was the first book I picked up by D.M. Mortier and I was hooked. I immediately started going back and reading the other books in the series, but not in order, rather based upon reviews. In this book the heroine (h), Malika, has been crushing on the hero (H), Sean since she was a kid, even though he was several years older than her. Unbeknownst to her, at some point in her adulthood, he becomes attracted to her, too; but, they never admit that attraction to each other. It's so bad, that everyone, including Sean's disapproving parents, notice but the H and h. Unfortunately, the seemingly intelligent Malika takes some bad advice from people she knows dislike her, resulting in unnecesary angst for her and Sean. But, when Malika, although a secret service agent in Britain, faces some obstacles in the field, she reaches out to Sean and he comes to the rescue. Overall, I loved Sean, how devoted he was to Malika. And I liked that Malika was tough and a great fighter, but not overly obstinate and witchy like some heroines are. I dislike intensely angry and unforgiving heroines (as is the case with the heroine in the 1st book of this series- glad I didn't read that one first!). In short, Malika and Sean ultimately realize their love for each other and, while encountering some obstacles along the way, still manage to find their HEA.

D.M. Mortier is a masterful story teller and this book is another masterpiece. Her writing evokes passion, suspense, tears, heart palpations and happiness! The love, feelings, and passion that Sean and Malika feel for one another jump off the page and grab hold of the reader. Malika has loved Sean as long as she can remember, Sean has loved her too but it took him just a little bit longer to realize it. They learned to trust that love and their feelings for one another. And through that love and trust grow through a perilous tribulation, declare their love and have their most definitely earned HEA!!!!!!I very anxiously await D.M.Mortier's next masterpiece!!!!!!

Amazing read! Great seriesI never give 5 stars to a book, but I enjoyed this book so much that It was almost sad to finish Sean is my kind of alpha ,his protectiveness is ....well in a good way, and Malika takes no bs from anybody! She Reminds me of Dinah (Dom's wife)...wish D.M. you did let us "see" Dinah, we love that couple. Anyway, the way you included all the characters from the series together was absolutely WONDERFUL!! I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I'm planning on read over the whole series. Great job D.M.!!! Keep writing, I really love your books.

The SEAL and the DuchessI enjoyed reading this book. The characters were great and the story flowed well. I read book one in this series and it was nice to get an update on Dom and his family. I didn't want to put this book down. Sean and Malika had a very interesting relationship. Sean was a total alpha but Malika was no pushover. There was drama, action, and hot sex. What more could you need? I definitely recommend reading this book.

SweetThis book was a trip. It had me laughing with the back and forth between Sean and Malika. Their love was as sweet as mom's apple pie but enhanced with bada**ness, toughness, and covert operations.

Loved itI started this series at Book 3; I'll be sure to go back and read the other two. I enjoy a romance that has a great story beyond the romance. This was a good book period. Enjoyed the action and adventure. Loved that the heroine could not only take care of herself but was a valuable contributor to the ex-Seal team on the mission. Good job.

I love D.M. Mortier's writing. She creates strong, feminine, classy, heroines and of course hot alpha men. Malika and Sean are not exceptions to the rule. I patiently wait for her next novel because I know that she will deliver. If you love beautiful, accomplished, and kick-ass heroines, this is your book. I read a lot of IR novels. I'm drawn to books with heroines that "feel like" Halle Berry, Cicely Tyson, Lena Horne, Alfre Woodward, Lynn Whitfield, Janelle Monea, Oprah, Angela Basset...get the picture? All of Ms. Mortier's heroine's embody the characteristics of these strong women. Add a beautiful love story with great suspense, drama, and hot sex and you have this book and any other novel written by this talented author. Thank you Ms. Mortier! To my fellow readers, you will not be disappointed.

5 Star Rating Indeed Once again Ms. D. M. Mortier has written an outstanding third book of The Guardian Series. Malika and Sean were perfect together. May have taken a minute and there was plenty of action. I also enjoyed getting to revisit with Sean's SEAL team, and Xavier. Excellent read and this book is highly recommended
