Oh what a tangled web we weave…As we catch up with Connor McClane and Katherine King, Kat had just been in a horrific car crash that wiped away any memory of her lover Connor. It also wiped away her inhibitions, and Kat can't keep her hands off of this gorgeous unknown man, who claims to be her husband, standing by her as she heals. Connor can't bear the thought of hurting Kat any further physically or mentally, so he puts distance between them, especially since he can't afford to be distracted as a corporate threat comes his way. But what Connor doesn't realize is that Kat can help him figure out who's behind the blackmail schemes being thrown at him, if only he'd trust her enough to fully let her in. SCORPIO RISING is the third book in The Scorpio Saga by Ms. Darville and it cannot be read as a standalone. In the beginning I thought that Connor had a personality transplant, as he was all sweet and caring and loving and attentive after Kat's accident. However once he determines that she'll be OK, he's back to his old asshat ways, withholding affection and treating her cooly. Kat was the quite the opposite, I loved that she kept her sassy attitude and charisma throughout the healing process. You have to suspend reality a LOT as Kat deals with her amnesia/nymphomania. I get that it's fiction, but the whole storyline just reeked of GRATUITOUS to me. The suspense element had the greatest potential, but it really fell flat and amounted to nothing more than a briefly broken heart (which, if Kat is this crazy intelligent amnesiac who goes around solving her faux husband's mysteries, you'd think she'd get the act he's putting on to take down the blackmailers. Real talk). The end was so abrupt and not fleshed out at all, leaving me wondering if Ms. Darville plans on releasing another installment since there was so much left hanging. The sex in SCORPIO RISING was sensual and erotic, with some light BDSM elements like spanking, light bondage and power plays. But there were definitely some uber cheesy moments during the sex scenes that had me rolling my eyes and wishing for the end. Bottom Line: An OK story if you've been reading and enjoying the series, but the amnesia storyline felt forced and all too convenient for this reader.Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

Disclaimer: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. First, I found this difficult to read without any prior knowledge of the characters. The book states it can be read as a singular title; the publisher clearly states should be read in order. I agree with the publisher. I felt you needed to know more about the characters in order for the "amnesia" plot line to really work.Secondly, I know people can undergo drastic personality changes after a traumatic brain injury. The fact that our heroine apparently made such a drastic change, and the hero doesn't know how or want to handle all of those changes made some parts feel a bit clunky. Some of the plot moves forward based on these changes, others just fall apart.Overall, I enjoyed the story. I will have to go back and read the other installments. This is a story I want to get all the pieces of-- I enjoyed the author's writing style and feel that once I have the whole picture my pleasure in the saga will only grow.

Connor and Kat have a very volatile connection, which seems mostly due to Connor’s fears. Connor can barely trust himself, so it is no surprise he uses Kat’s injury as an excuse to withdraw even more. Kat is pretty explicit in her desires, yet it takes getting Connor furiously jealous for him to thaw. In my opinion they have a long way to go when it comes to trust before they should even consider dipping into any BDSM play.
