"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."For a short story, this packed in plenty of punch! In using the centuries old fable to create a really clever, an extremely sensual, and meaningful tale, Ms Richards has excelled herself. It effectively brings to life the lot of a Roman slave, entrances the reader with a vision of a desert paradise, and tells the earthy story of two lovers. Perfect reading material.

I am an independent reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. Giving this one 4 Fangs. I will start by saying this is not a normal read for me. I found it touching. It starts with a slave named Androcles being freed by his dying Master. Cato tells him how to get to safety. While fleeing like the hounds of hell are on his heals he runs into a pack of wolves. He hides in a cave. If you know any Greek Myths - you have heard the one about Androcles and the Lion. That is how this wonderful little story starts to flesh out. Androcles finds a lion shifter named Okyin with a festering wound. He saves him by removing a thorn. It is the start of a wonderful story about Androcles finding himself and letting go of his past as a slave. Androcles finds solice in Okyin, but he must find his own way past the physical and emotional damage that he has suffered, at the hands of others. We all have something in our past or present that if we let go of might make our world lighter and happier for it.If you pick this up read beyond the first chapters, I had a hard time at first but yet again glad I continued. Even without the sex, this would have been a wonderful retelling of the fable. Not only is this their story it is also a story of how after being a slave for so long his scars aren't just on his body but his mind and spirit as well. It is the story of how Androcles grows and attempts to overcome his fears.I highly recommend this one if you are a fan of M/M erotica.

What a great, steamy, wonderful read this was. I love all things related to Ancient Greece, and the fable of Androcles and the Lion is one of my all-time favorites. To turn it into such a lovely, sexy story made my day.At first, I thought I might have a hard time getting into it. The first chapter was a little dry. But the pace quickly picked up, and I really enjoyed the rest. The beginning is necessary to establish some emotional context for later themes. What I really loved is how Androcles finally realizes his own need for healing. It's a perfect metaphor for any of us who have been through a trauma that left us feeling broken and unworthy. At more than one point, I related so strongly to his emotions that I was in tears.I also loved how Okyin, the lion-man, didn't "save" or "free" Androcles; Androcles had to do that himself, though Okyin was right beside him. This is more than just the story of a former slave finally gaining his freedom. It's a beautiful expression of becoming whole and trusting someone else fully, body and soul.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.5 stars.Amy

For Cato to stay in Utica awaiting Caeser's arrival, is for him to court death. Cato's final act was severing the bond of master and slave. A pack of wolves was chasing Androcles through the woods. Death doesn't come for him that night. He is in a cave when he looks over there is a lion. He is trying to decide to help the lion or to leave. He sees the lion shift to human, he sees where the lion is injured and he decides to stay and help Okyin. Okyin and Androcles went to the roof of the cave and Okyin shows Androcles the lioness's eye. Androcles thinks that he is nothing, he is the head servant and he was freed. He is a very stubborn man.Cato injured at the Battle of Dyrrachium, Androcles's Master. Okyin is a shifter lion to man, part of the Gyatan Tribe, doesn't feed while a lion. This is an amazing story I couldn't put this book down. This is my first story by Anya Richards and it most definitely will not be my last. This is a M/M story. The author's style of writing is amazing. I highly recommend this book.

I’m not a normal fan of erotica, however, I did actually enjoy this book. I’ve also never before read a book by Anya Richards. I’ve found her style of writing very easy to just get lost in the flow of the words. If you’re a fan of erotica or M/M romances than I definitely feel that you will enjoy this story and should read more by Ms. Richards. In the beginning of the story Androcles is a slave to an injured and dying Cato. Before his death Cato releases Androcles from slavery. Slavery is the only life that Androcles knows which gives a very interesting perspective that he is now operating from. Okyin is a lion shifter from the Gyatan Tribe. He is on his way back home after exploring the world. Sparks fly from when they meet and form a connection. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Fans of M/M erotica definitely need to make time to read Lion's Need by Anya Richards. I'm a fan of this author and when I saw she had a new book out, I one-clicked immediately....and I am so happy I did. Lion's Need was such a great book that had a unique and intriguing story line. I was completely fascinated with Anya's characters. Androcles has been a slave practically is whole life and Okyin is this lion shifter who he stumbles upon, while leaving his former master. The sex scenes between Androcles and Okyin are very steamy and sensual. The connection these two characters form with each other, is definitely special and think everyone should give this book a read.

Talk about a book that starts out with some action. And by action, I don't mean fighting! This book begins with a bang and ends with an Awwwwww. The in-between is hot, sexy and will have you fanning yourself. Fans of M/M erotica will love this. It's hot without being over the top. I rather enjoyed the story. Androcles struggling with his freedom was interesting to watch. This is a short, quick sexified read that you'll burn through!
