This second installment is even darker than the first and I loved it! Noel is truly put to the test. The pain and punishment he endures for his attitude is beyond harsh. No matter how he tried to keep a hold of his humanity, Theoden is going to prove him wrong. Even coming face to face with the traitor who sold out the resistance isn't going to bring him revenge. Every time Noel tries to defy Theoden, he is shown a horror he did not expect. Can Noel find peace as a vampire or is he destined to be twisted to Theoden's ways? I cannot wait to see where his "training" takes him next. If you like your stories on the far side of darkness, you will like this series. If you have a sensitive stomach, move along, nothing to see here.

Um...there might have been a moment near the end where I seriously thought I wouldn't be able to finish this... Holy. Fucking. Shit. I'm trying to think of a description that accurately describes this novella...but I can't. Probably one of the most fucked up novellas I have ever read...in my entire life. I can't imagine how it could get any worse than this...>ducks head in shame<..but I love it!On to the next!

Nicholas BellaFive Amazing Stars Torment Im different now a the Scariest creature of all. But now I’m totally different. I’ve tried so hard to get away, but still, they just punish me. I don’t think this night will ever end.As Theoden places the needed into my skin. He kept screaming at me to not budge to simply relax. He continued to inflict pain all over my face too. He then ordered me to be permanently pierced all over my entire body.I became scared not knowing what would happen next. Theoden praises my whole body. Saying I was now beautiful. My body had changed now. I began to lust others now. I was told by Theoden he was mine, my master. Telling me my whole being would only want his and his group. It will never end.Next I tried to fight off his sexual pain , but I never thought this would ever end. I knew this would never end. I just gave up. I absolutely loved this most exciting book. So sexual. Such a adventurous, tortured most brilliant book!

Apparently, I am a bit in the minority here. Ah well. Knowing that it is part of a series, I wasn’t surprised about the abrupt ending, but there was little to make me want to read the rest (sad face--because I wanted to like it a lot). It wasn’t bad, but I think the author missed out on opportunities for some major “mind-fuckery”. Lots of abuse/torture, but little of it seemed erotic. Being written in first person POV, there could have been some really big opportunities to get into the MC’s head and suffer along with him on a very intimate level, but it was glanced over in favor descriptions that were more tell than show. I never “felt” his pain or his arousal, and the one scene had me totally scratching my head, anatomically speaking. (view spoiler)[Knife goes through mouth, apparently out the back of his skull to pin him to the wall…does is go under the occipital bone and sever his spine? Did it miss and hit muscle? (hide spoiler)] We know it all hurts a lot, but pain is mentioned as a narrowly focused sensation with a lot of blood and screaming involved. I was simply reading about it all--not being present with him in the moment.Unfortunately, all that lack of detail made the violence and acts of humiliation seem gratuitous, rather than an integral part of the story. Like I said, not bad, but with more attention to detail, it probably could have been brilliant. Rounding up to 3.

This was book 2 in the "Chained in Darkness"series. This was a short quick hot read like the first book in this series. Noel was fighting against the Vampire rulers when he was caught and now he has been turned by the most powerful vampire, Théoden Lord of District 5, a handsome large man. In Théoden’s lair there are only men who gain power through blood and sex. Noel is fighting this pull he now has toward Théoden and his new vampire brothers he is not gay but he can't help himself. Noel can't die but her feels pain. This book was hot and well written like the first book in this series with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE4.5 StarsThere is a warning in the blurb that comes with this story – my advice would be to pay it particular attention!Punishment picks up right where Embraced left off which is not a great place at all for Noel. He has been taken to Theoden’s home where he meets the other ‘children’ and is currently tied up in the basement. Theoden has turned him into his worst nightmare and now he must train him and that training starts with punishment. He is pierced, beaten, stabbed, humiliated and made to bleed until he can behave in a way that Theoden wants and offer submission. There is still a little fight left in Noel but that is quickly diminishing as fear and his thirst for blood take over. The downside of being a vampire for Noel is his healing power as it means his torture can be prolonged and Theoden revels in this fact.Like the first book in the series this is short and hard hitting and I was unable to put it down. For all of Theoden’s sadism I can’t help but like him and I am looking forward to see how his character develops throughout the series. You have to feel sorry for Noel who seems to be losing pieces of himself as he transforms into a vampire and is made to go through the worst kind of torture but at the same time I find myself eager to know what the next creative punishment will be and how long it will be until he craves what Theoden is giving him.

Noel is learning that there is no use in defying Theoden. The punishment is swift and severe. When Theoden promises a penalty, he follows through and Noel will either learn to bite his tongue or lose it.When he comes face to face with the traitor, will Noel be able to keep himself in check or just dig himself in deeper? After he suffers more humiliation he must decide for the time, self preservation must rule out.Omg....I am loving this dark read! On to part 3!

I've never read a story with such sadistic, badass vampires before. Theoden is the master of the humiliating mind screw. I'm fascinated and turned on by the unique ways he punishes Noel and the tasks he trains him for. I feel for Noel, but find myself enraptured with Theoden never knowing what's next, can't wait to read Lessons.

Punishment, Book 2, Chained in Darkness series, by Nicholas Bella, is exactly as the title says. Please read the warning above from the author before you start reading this series. Book 2 starts off where Embraced finished and with Noel recognizing he is in way over his head. The author doesn’t pull any punches with Théoden’s displeasure of Noel when he constantly seems to defy him. I don’t think Noel is doing it on purpose, well…most of the time, I think he is having a hard time grasping the situation he is in. Noel, as a human, was straight with no sexual interest toward another male. Now, as a vampire, he is getting turned on by Theoden, and his handling of him. All of this is new to him and he doesn’t understand why it is happening.Theoden laid the rules out and went over his dislikes, what he would not tolerate, and his expectations with Noel. He is firm and does not waiver when Noel displeases him. So, what is a Master to do when his pet doesn’t listen? He is punished and quite severely.Theoden is a sadistic vampire and has no compassion whatsoever. Your heart really breaks for Noel because he has no choice in what is happening. He is whipped, tortured, and humiliated in the worst way. He will face off with Jonah, the backstabbing weasel and the reason Noel is in this situation.Noel’s punishment seems never ending. Theoden promised to punish him for every offense against him and he more than delivers. He puts him through many different forms of torture. The more that is handed out, the more Theoden flourishes. He brandishes the crop with force and speed and does not let up until the air is gone from Noel’s lungs and his throat is raw from screaming. Will Noel resign to his fate and relinquish all control over to Theoden? I don’t know, but I think the prospect of accepting what is now his new life is coming closer and closer. His punishment is extreme even for the smallest offences. He is having a hard time conforming to the demands and expectations that is required of him but with each new punishment he is quickly learning that giving in is looking better and better.Honesty and trust are two things Theoden expects and in any normal situation that is not too much to ask. But for Noel, right now – at this moment, giving those two things freely is incomprehensible.“Excellent. Honesty really is one of the main foundations for building a relationship. Trust is another. You can trust me to take care of you, but also, you can trust me to punish you when you disobey me. You will most likely be in pain from that solution until tomorrow night, deal with it. We have one more punishment to administer.” Theoden walked over to me, stepping over my putrid mess and caressed the top of my head as if he were petting a dog. “I would much rather enjoy the flesh of my boys, my children than torture it. Oh, make no mistake, my little Bitch. I do enjoy torturing, but there is a difference. You see, there’s pain like what you’re experiencing now, and that is necessary…and then there is pain that you will come to enjoy.”Through his pain and punishment Noel is slowing conforming to the ways of his Master. This form of punishment is something he does not want to live through again. Learning to think before he speaks will certainly work in his favor. However, one of the few things Theoden likes about him is his spirit and smart mouth. And…No, Theoden doesn’t like him at all. If he does, which at this point I’m not sure, he hides it well. The more Noel reigns in his attitude, you see small fragments of concern and possibly understanding from Theoden. It makes you think that in time they could be real lovers with pleasure and desire. At the same time, I keep thinking maybe that is what I want to happen so I’m picking up things not really there. Time will tell for sure and I am definitely going to keep reading to see. I must admit that not knowing where this is heading or the direction it will take it just as addictive as the words the author has written. The situation is turbulent at best but that’s part of what makes it so enticing.Nicolas Bella continues to hold me captive with his words just as Theoden holds Noel with chains. The dialogue is brutal at times to read, yet necessary. The author holds nothing back and makes it quite clear what to expect. The punishment is horrific but now that Noel is a vampire, healing happens immediately. A small consolation that you can’t help but hang onto. The story line continues to flow seamlessly and the author has outlined this series with each novella. If you take the time to check out the author’s Amazon page or his website, he gives us a glimpse of things to come. Lessons, Book 3, is up next and I can’t help but think that Noel will have many to learn.I’m honestly looking forward to the time when Noel relinquishes all control over to Theoden, if he does. Will they flourish together or am I just wishful thinking? I can’t answer that yet but I still haven’t given up on Theoden. For some reason, I still feel as though I’m going to love this evil, sadistic bastard. :-P

Don't lie to Theoden!Theoden is brutal in training Noel, but clearly effective. Noel doesn't have a chance of resisting being molded into exactly what Theoden wants him to be, but I wonder if that truly is a bad thing...

Review for PUNISHMENT: chained in Darkness by Nicholas Bella3.5 starsIf it weren’t for Noel, this next phase at the story might have been a descent read, but he is about as amusing as a 2 dimensional sniveling 16 year smart mouth brat. Throughout the event, there is zero character development. The author seems to be stuck on this personality hang up, because even after Noel has been whipped, fileted, lashed, and had a dagger stabbed through the mouth to pin the back of his skull to a board, he still doesn’t change. Like being turned into a vampire so he can be tortured as Théoden’s slave forever, these apparently are not life altering events either. Oh sure the pain is unbearable… the pain is unbearable… the pain is unbearable. Ok already, we get it, now trying showing and stop telling. That doesn’t really happen either and once it’s over Noel shows he has yet to learn when not to run his mouth, but he has time to admire the male bodies he protests to not be interested in. Really? You just swallowed something to the equivalent of draino and you’re admiring the furniture and the ass lounging on them?Théoden is the more interesting character of the story, too bad it’s not his head we’re in. The author’s writing voice isn’t bad at all. It takes some stamina to write pure sadist and maintain it rather than back off to appease fragile readers. That’s what intrigues me in this would be story. Still, issues with the time sense switching around throws me off. A few edit needs but easy to overlook. I really wanted to like the story. The problem is, the author hasn’t given it to us yet. There is no development, no evolution, and no plot of any kind. Just four chapters of ongoing torture. Yes, I suppose I should be happy I got 4 chapters this time as opposed to the messily 2 chapters in the last. But I’m not, because its 4 chapters that go nowhere. I rather enjoy a main meal of sadism but I like a side order of plot to go with it too.A book, even within a series has a beginning and an ending or a damn good cliff hanger. Plus a bunch of shit in between that gets the readers from point A to point C. Instead you’re pawning off chapters a couple at a time that so far comes up to a grand total of 23.91. Are we there yet? When you stop playing around and decide to publish a real book, I’ll not only come back to find out what happened inside the house of Théoden, but would also recommend this to a few of my friends who also like a good dark read; until then….Best line:“I was trying to reason with a maniac, so I knew there were going to be a few things I was going to have to tolerate… like insane inappropriate laughter from a madman.”

A review by The Blogger Girls.Wow, this was even better than the last segment! Theoden is one sexy badass vamp! He takes no prisoners, well, ok, he does, but he is literally quite something to watch. He clearly has an agenda, and he does not stray or give in at all.Poor Noel is doomed. He is fighting the realization that he is now one of THEM, the hated vamps. He refuses to give in or give an inch where Theoden is concerned, but that does not go well for him. Theoden has many painfully creative ways to teach Noel lessons and they are quite detailed. Lessons that he makes sure will not have to be learned again. Unfortunately for Noel, due to his now vamp status, he heals rather quickly which enables him to be tortured/abused in these lessons, heal and then go through it all again. Granted, he has brought much of it on himself, but you still feel quite badly for him and his predicament. I may have cringed more than once, but I was riveted to my kindle for every word.In this segment, Noel is brought to Theoden’s home where we meet some of his other “children.” We don’t get to see much of them, but they are quite intriguing and are all excited with the prospect of a new plaything. I was left in anticipation of what is to come with this “family” and really cannot wait to find out. This is a really quick read, but it is jam packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. I sure hope Nicholas doesn’t keep us waiting too long for the next segment, because I’m hooked and jonesing for more

This is a tough review to write. I went with 3 stars, although I wish we could give 1/2 stars as I really feel it's a 3.5 and the only reason I don't give this a 4 star rating is the editing. There are typos, downright misspellings, the tenses are jumbled, often in the middle of a crucial scene, and sentence structure goes awry at the worst of times making it annoying when one is submersed in the story - and this is an easy book to get submersed in.The Chained in Darkness series attracted me because of the subject matter, a new take on the whole vamp story line where the vampires, werewolves, etc. have come out of the closet and taken over the world, subjugating the human population as servants and food, but wait! There's a human resistance and our MC Noel is a leader of a resistance cell. He is betrayed by his friend, Jason, and ends up in the clutches of Theoden, a top vamp and the most sadistic one. In the first book Noel is betrayed and sentenced to be "Embraced" (turned) by Theoden. In the second book Noel is taught how to become a sub to Theoden and the scenes are scorching HOT!The premise is fantastic, the writing is good and addictive, and I can certainly see the potential for more books and offshoots besides this one story line with Noel. What about the human resistance? What's happening with them? What about the werewolves and the other baddies? The possibilities abound!I am addicted to this series and will see it through. I like Mr. Bella's writing but some editing and a test drive (beta reading) before hand would help enormously.

Second installment in the Chained in Darkness series by Nicholas B. I have read the first and the third before this one and the whole first season in the boxed set. So this is kind of a re-read. However you like to read them, they are worth it. It is a new world with the supes out and the new rulers of the world because the humans are too week and are only used as slaves and food. These supernaturals, split in groups of vampires, werewolves and dragons, are not the sparkling or brooding kind of men (and the occasional woman - but mainly guys as this is m/m). They are brutal, unyielding and relentless. And sexy as hell, especially one of them, the most brutal and prominent of them all, Theoden. The story is told from Noel's POV. He is the leader of a resistance cell and has had a few successful strikes against vampires and their companies, causing loss of money and destruction of buildings. He made it his way not to cause collateral damage, killing humans who either served the vampires or were held prisoners by them. After being captured he has been embraced by Theoden and now has to deal with the punishment for lying to Theoden and his insubordination. It is cruel and very, very painful but the only way for Noel to understand what he is now and what is expected of him in future.

So hot, yet so violent! This series is just wow... It is both horrifying and highly erotic. It's a good thing Noel is a vampire, as there would be no way that he would be able to survive all of the lessons that he is put through throughout the series. This book is so incredibly violent, I wouldn't recommend it for a squeamish reader! I still need to Google his piercings...what I'm picturing just doesn't seem right, lol.I've said it before, I really don't like serial novels...this would've been much better as a full novel. Sure, it would've been 5 or 600 pages, but still. It's hard enough to wait for the next book in a series, even more so when the author stops an episode in the middle of a scene. This author DOES do that, so I recommend that if you're going to get one, get them all, or at least be prepared to. You're going to want them.I've been offered the chance to review the first book of the next season. I had to read these before I filled out the form, I definitely want to see where this series goes. However, I'm reluctant, since I know that it's only the one book that's available and it will be torture waiting for the rest of the series... I can only hope that the author will have mercy on me and there will be no deadline, so I can wait for them all to be available to read them all at once.

Wow.. intense and amazing, I read the first book in the series and knew I was hooked, this is the second book and was just as good if not better than the first. A quick read with a easy story line to fallow, it is part of the series and not a stand alone. Im more than excited to get to the next book. Theoden is the definition of a sadist, and doles out pain as it pleases him. Noel was a resistance fighter that caused the Vampire Lord many annoying times. Having Noel in his grasp and as his "pet" is beyond payback. Noel fights as much as he can before he will see that it will do no good to fight. You can almost feel the arrogance that Theoden exudes and his has earned it, being one of the most powerful Vampire Lords "Living". He puts his new child through his paces, showing him the rules first hand. Did I mention intense....almost as if you were right there. The writer tugged you into his world and kept you there until the end. The scenes and story was written well and I loved the characters. Would I recommend this .. yes but only for the not faint of heart.

I rec's a ARC from the author NICHOLAS BELLA in exchange for an honest opinion. This is mousieys very honest opinion of the ertocia book that shows us the darkside of vampires. I must say that the author Mr Bella has truly brought his characters to life in a completely different way. He takes you into a land that you have never read before. You find yourself wanting more of the story about Noel and his new Master/Lord/sire. Noel has been embraced into the vampire society now he must take the punishment that Theodus dishes out. Noel must accept his new life and the punishments or pay the price. This book is for readers over the age of 18 and love to read paranormal. However due to the content of the material some may find this book not to there liking. I have to say that this is one book I truly wanted to keep reading - had to have the next in the series 1 of Chained in Darkness.Mousiey gives a rating of 40 out of 5 stars. You will want to flash and get your copy of this tremendous story.

Damn, what a ride! Nicholas Bella just raised the bar with the second book in his "Chained in Darkness" series! It's getting darker, naughtier and sexier as you wouldn't believe it could be possible. I loved it and devoured this book in one go! The Story just picks up the moment the first book stops, so that this time Nicholas Bella throws the reader directly in the dark basement of torture where Theoden starts to punish his new pet, poor Noel, to show him the place in his new life...being Theodens pussy. While Noel tries to hold on to his humanity Theoden always makes him loose this track over and over again in the cruelest ways his naughty mind comes up with. The punishments Noel has to cope with are crueler than cruel and bring him to the edge more and more...will he keep a part of himself or will Theoden break him?If you like a dark, sexy read that brings yourself out of your comfort zone, well, this is THE series for you. Now i so can't wait to read the next book!!!

Punishments picks up right where Embraced left off. Noel learns exactly what happens when he displeases Theoden. Lucky for him, he almost pays attention. This episode is just as dark and twisted as Embraced. The punishments are not only brutal, they're graphically described and leave very little to the imagination. The storyline continues it's smooth flow, and like with the last episode, the reader will be turning the pages in anticipation of what will happen to our little Noel next. There still isn't any real sex going on, just some very twisted pain punishments, but that's another thing that keeps the reading wanting to get a hold of the following episode.Like Embraced, Punishments ends with a episode cliffhanger, after all the series is like a show right? And all series episodes need to end with something that will keep the fans tuning in for the next episode.I look forward to Lessons, the next episode in this series.I give this book 5 of 5 paws
