Disclosure: I wrote the book. I wrote it hoping to help people who get saddled with excessive debt after projects go awry or they're just overcharged. After I read that 1/3 of foreclosures and people losing their homes involves being ripped off by home repair swindlers or hiring inept contractors who leave the house in worse condition than when they started, after taking 70% or more of the initial quote, I realized this book is needed to save lives, not just save a dollar. But it's not so sober! It's a fun read, with stories sprinkled throughout, and most of them turning out well.
