Such a great couple! Daniel and Kenna have been best friends since eleventh grade. Ten years of incredible friendship, even though at times they each secretly feel more then "friendship" and fight the attraction they have for each other.Daniel needs Kennas help in making a dream of his come true and she has a need of help for her sister with surgery. Daniel and Kenna need to marry to achieve their goals. So they'll marry for one year and then divorce. But neither one counted on those feelings they have been hiding, to grow so much stronger and then they both long for their marriage to be a real one. These two where beautiful as best friends and as husband and wife they where fantastic! They both where such wonderful characters and I liked them each as individuals. Hero was strong, sexy, sweet, kind and funny. Heroine was sweet, beautiful, smart, confident, and caring. And these two had such a healthy, fun, sexy and adult relationship it was a joy to read. It's a beautiful love story that I really, really enjoyed reading. And the ending and epilogue couldn't have been more beautiful!

I would characterize this as "middle of the road". There just wasn't enough tension to really keep me riveted, which is what I've come to expect and like in my Harlequins. It wasn't till the last 20 pages when she decides to leave the marriage, that things started to heat up. Plus, my taste tends to gravitate towards those vintage Harley's where everyone is just OTT. I so enjoy an evil, conniving OW and Heroes who are such arrogant asshats you can't help but want to take a swipe at them. These two were just too nice and normal for me. LOL!!!!!

A Wife for One Year (Those Engaging Garretts!) By Brendy HarlenC+, blaze, no kink, contemp, 224 pagesDaniel and Kenna have been best friends since they were paired up as chemistry lab partners in high school. Daniel gets a chance to fulfill a dream, but he needs access to his trust fund first. And in order to get access to his trust fund, he needs a wife. Kenna is the only one that he can think of, and the fact that she needs money to pay for her sister's surgery means she quickly agrees to the plan as well. But the agreement quickly turns into more than either of them had planned.I read a lot of erotic romance and every once in a while I need a break. I know that I can turn to Harlequin Special Edition for that palette cleanser. This book was just what I needed! It's clear that Daniel and Kenna have a really close relationship prior to their marriage deal. And they've both kept their romantic feelings hidden. There's a lot of "but he's/she's my best friend and I don't want to ruin that." Plus lots of misunderstandings that could have easily been solved by the two of them actually talking. Seriously. A lot of misunderstandings. Why the pair of them couldn't just be up front about something I never did figure out. But I guess if they had been upfront this would have been more of a novella than a full length.Even with all the head smacking misunderstandings, I enjoyed this one a lot. It was just what I wanted. If you like low conflict and friends-to-lovers stories, give this one a try.

I so love pretending stories. And this one combines that pretending with friends turned lovers which I also adore. Kenna and Daniel have been friends for ten years, best friends. It seems like an easy thing to do - pretend to be married and claim what they both want. But living together isn't as easy as either of them thought. The closeness they have always felt turns to sparks that they can't ignore. Both are afraid of ruining their friendship but as their feeling deepen and Daniel deals with the fact that his bride is so inexperienced, things change. When surprises jolt them, Kenna gives Daniel what she thinks he wants but she may have never been more wrong. They are adorable together. They can't keep their hands off each other. They miss each other when they are apart. Daniel wants her in his arms in the mornings. Kenna wants him touching her forever. But both of them resist. It's so cute and I completely enjoyed watching them figure out what others around them had know for years. This is a fast read. Read it in an afternoon. If you love the pretending stories or the friends to lovers stories, then this one is a great pick. It's great romance.

This was a sweet story where two bestfriends unite but when the line starts getting blurred will they be able to stay married together or will one runaway. This story started off with Daniel Garrett and Kenna Scott making a pact that they would get married because Daniel wanted his inheritance and Kenna agreed because her sister needed surgery. They were bestfriends since they were paired up in lab in high school. Daniel had a bet and that was $100 if he could get Kenna to go out with him and he did. Now if you think it was just that easy, nope she wanted half of that money because her sister needed some shoes. Then something happened when they both went out that was when I believe that’s when Kenna’s heart let in Daniel and she fell in love with him just a little. As the story went on the chemistry between them was sparking, they moved into together and it’s like nothing changed between them. Of course she was living with her now husband but she was staying in the spare bedroom but something happened. He got his inheritance and he was trying to seal a deal. She was still teaching and it seemed that marriage agreed with them. Only that he was still treating her like his bestfriend and in front of his family. During that wedding that’s when they shared a heated kiss a very passionate kiss and it lead to so much more but then Daniel gets upset. He could not believe what he had done but he was ruining it for Kenna. That had been the best thing that had happened to her but now it seemed that Daniel regretted it.As more time passes something happens between them, they decide that they can have a real marriage but what’s going to happen when those lines start to blur. They are both feeling more but it seems that they are both hard headed and don’t want to recognize that they are in love. When Daniel starts to spend more time out of bed, more time traveling and no more sex she knows that he is distancing himself from her and she has the solution.A Wife for One Year was a great read. I loved how it made me smile and maybe a tear or two came out. The characters were likable and well developed. Yes at one time or two I wanted to strangle Daniel for the way that he was acting. I love that this was an easy, smooth read that I enjoyed reading and I know I can’t wait to see who is next in the Garrison family to get the next book.I’m so glad that I got the chance to review A Wife for One Year and I have to say that I have found a new author to follow and I will be researching to see what other book she has published. I hope that you pick up this book and enjoy.Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an Honest Review

A delightful and charming love story. Daniel needs to be married to access his 6 million dollar trust fund, and Kenna is his childhood best friend who needs money so that she can pay for her sister's expensive surgery. So they strike a deal, one year of marriage, in return for $100,000 but as the weeks and months pass, Kenna and Daniel both find themselves never wanting to be alone or with anyone else ever again. Will they admit their growing feeling for each other before the year is out and their marriage is over? This is a completely charming romance, filled with great interaction and sizzling chemistry. I loved how fiercely protective Daniel was of Kenna, their interaction and dialogue were fantastic, and I was cheering for them the entire way. I really thought that the author did a fantastic job with the many characters, I especially loved how accepting of Kenna Daniel's entire family was of her and how they immediately supported her throughout. The characters of Daniel and Kenna were very well done, and immediately loved them together. Overall, this was a engaging, and quick read with likable characters that made for a charming romance.

Daniel needs to get his trust fund in order to venture into a new business venture, to fulfill his dream of owning a race car. To get his fund he has to be legally married and the only person he can think will help him is his best friend from high school Kenna.Kenna has always been in Daniels debt, she was the kid from the wrong part of town growing up. Attending a fancy school on a scholarship she stuck out until Daniel became her science lab partner and took her under his wing. The deal Daniel presents is a win win, marry him for a year so he can get his trust fund and he will help her pay for her sister's leg surgery in return. What they didn't account for his the sexual chemistry that develops between them. 12 months is a very long time to be married with out sex.. but is this new found chemistry worth risking their friendship of 10 years?I enjoyed this read the characters were very likable and I loved hearing about the past history they shared. It added another layer to the relationship they had, the transition from friend to lover was awesome to read. The plot was just a little predictable I already knew how it would end for our couple. Fun fast read

Loved loved loved it!! First I have to say this is one of my favorite types of Romance stories. I love the best friend aspect. In Daniel and Kenna's story I loved how they were always honest with each other (except for one instance, but don't want to spoil the story). In most stories like this the characters start to have a hard time communicating when things start to heat up but Daniel and Kenna were always honest about their feelings and I really liked that. Loved how their back story was shared throughout the book, it really showed how much they cared about each other for many years. I could not put this book down!! It is one of the best books I have read lately and will be one I will read again. I read all of Brenda Harlen's books but this will always be one of my favorites, can't wait to read about more Garretts!!

A Wife for One Year was an easy, enjoyable read with likable characters and an interesting storyline. I loved the relationship that Kenna and Daniel had. It was sweet but it also had depth. Their chemistry was always present, but they never skewed the lines. When they did venture past the boundaries of friendship, something wonderful happened. Sure it was scary and it might have complicated things a bit but it was so worth it. Lovely!Rating: 4/5Recommend: Yes

A very pleasant read. It was based on best friends who decided to marry for mutually beneficial reasons. I love to watch books such as this unfold. The characters were strong and the story was good with out being overly mushy.

I love a friends to lovers story and this one was especially good. Daniel and Kenna had been best friends since high school. When Daniel needed access to his trust fund and could only get it by being married, Kenna was the one he thought of. Being friends, they figured that they wouldn't have any trouble avoiding sex with each other. What they didn't count on was the spark that was lit with "You may kiss the bride."Over the ten years of their friendship, Daniel and Kenna have spent a lot of time together, but they've never had this much time in each other's company. Both are afraid of ruining their friendship, but their feelings are changing though neither wants to admit it. I loved getting bits of their history as each one remembers something special from their past, and how those memories contribute to the way they feel now. I also loved how, as those feelings grow, each one starts to remember previous feelings that they would bury so that their friendship wouldn't change.Over the weeks and months after their wedding, I loved seeing how their relationship changed. When they give in to the sparks, Daniel is stunned to find out how innocent Kenna really was, and the way it makes him feel. Kenna had never been comfortable getting close to any man, but she had no problem with Daniel. She thought it was just because they were such good friends until she realized that she wanted more than what their bargain allowed. Kenna was the one who realized the truth of her feelings first, while Daniel was still resisting the idea that he's in love with Kenna. As it finally started to sink in, he panicked, especially with the idea that she might be pregnant, and said some things that made Kenna think they had no chance. Kenna was also pretty stubborn, and made some mistakes of her own while trying to protect her heart.I loved the way that no one was surprised when they got married. Everyone around them had seen that the two of them belonged together, even when they didn't see it themselves. I loved seeing Daniel's mom explaining to him where he went wrong and how to fix it. What he did and said was really sweet. I loved the epilogue, especially race day/birth day.

The boyfriend and I go to Meijer at night. Usually between 2-4 am. We just walk around and do our grocery shopping. We also go check out the books in their book section. Of course, there is a limited supply but it's fun to read about the weird romance books. Since it's the middle of the night, usually there aren't other people around and we can read the blurbs on the backs of the books and skim some pages to see how truly awful the books are.Well we found this one a few days ago and we couldn't not buy it. I mean, two best friends that get married because he wants his trust fund? How annoying can the book be? Well, it was pretty annoying. And I just got done reading Gossip Girl, so that's saying something. I read this aloud to the boyfriend and we did a lot of analyzing while reading it. In the end, we didn't hate it. It could have been worse. It was a fun book to read to the boyfriend and I think we're going to end up picking more books and analyzing them. Someone please stop me if this becomes a normal thing though. In all, the boyfriend gave it three stars but I gave it two based on my system.

Kenna and Daniel have been best friends for over ten years, so they both assume they can pull off being married for one year. They think it will be easy to pretend to be a happily in love couple. Neither of them expect hidden feelings to come to the surface and complicate things. They are both scared of ruining the friendship, so they ignore what they feel. But as times go by and the feelings deepen they give in. The chemistry between them is so hot it sizzles. They never expected to fall in love with each other, so when a few surprises happen things change drastically. Kenna decides she will give Daniel what she thinks he wants, but is it really? Will they stay together or will regularly ways and lose everything they had together? They are such a cute couple together, they know everything about one another. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's so sweet and adorable. You really feel like you know them and can relate to them. Watching these two come to see what others have seen for years was am amazing experience. This is a great romance. I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.7-4.2 Stars. Public Library 2/7/15. Suprisingly sweet all encompassing friends to lovers story. Kenna and Daniel met as teens when she transfers to his ritzy HS. The majority of the story is spent when they are adults with little flashbacks to when they were younger. After ten years of being best friends when Daniel needs access to his trust fund he calls Kenna to help. What starts off as a deal to help each other out turns into something more the longer they play husband and wife. The story takes us on their journey of love from new jobs to pregnancy.

What a delightful, sweet story! Come on, who doesn't love a best-friends-to-lovers romance??? I realize that marriage of convenience is not everybody's cup of tea because they think it's unrealistic, but who cares if it is unrealistic, after all, fiction is supposed to be an escape from reality.I loved both characters. They were both strong, independent and so sweet with one another. You couldn't help but like them. What made it even more enjoyable for me is the fact that there was no big drama or other woman to cause issues. It was a just a really cute, quick, feel-good read.

3 stars but only because I couldn't choose 2 and 1/2. I say this because the premise of the book looked quite good but upon reading it I was disappointed with how the story turned out. It could have been so much better than what it was. I love friendship turned lover stories done in the right way but this book had many misunderstandings from the main characters which was frustrating and repetitive. A very quick book to read.
