I absolutely love this series and I was SOOO excited when I learned there was going to be more books..BUT honestly it could have stopped after book 4 with an epilogue of how they lived happily ever after.HOWEVER... if you are dying for more Quin and Layla and their adventures then do read this book. This book begins with yet another group of horrible wizards after Layla.. or should I say Earth's Angel. We get some major answers..like why are Quin/Layla's lights different from other bonded couples? Why was Quin dreaming of Layla before he met her? Why are they calling her Earth's Angel in the first place?Quin is still dreamy as everLayla.. well she still needs to grow a backbone and stop being so meek.. but I still like her.AND their love is still as beautiful as ever and so I'm on to the next book.I was doing a LOT of this while reading this book...because some of the stuff they would say... LOL...but I still love the series so I just kept reading..but them eye rolls was starting to give me a headacheESPECIALLY every time Layla called Quin her thorough hero... LOL who says that? She's been calling him that forever now but now it's getting on my nervesand I get they are technically still in the honeymoon stage of their relationship so there is a lot ofSHIT I know it! And I'm tired of hearing it, but I guess they only been together about a month when the book starts so I tried to ignore my annoyance at their constant "I LOVE YOU"And like always, they can't keep their hands off each other soo..and just when you think the book is gonna end on a happyish noteThis book ends on a major cliff hanger.Hence, why I'm on to book 6.So, I know this review is all over the place so basically what I am saying is that read this book if you love Layla and Quin and are invested in their story and adventures and the magical world, if not, I suggest you call the series quits.

Destruction leaves off where Retribution left off and I dove right back into the world of wizards, witches and the epic romance that is constantly growing more and more epic between the smoothest man alive and the loveliest angel on earth. Layla Love will forever be the woman of my dreams, and Destruction allows us to see even more of that lovely heart I've grown to adore. Quin and Layla's journey is far from over after the defeat of Agro, and it only gets worse for our angel and her thorough hero, what with a new and more foreboding threat on the horizon, threatening not just them but the entire world!Destruction delivers quite a few twists and punches to the gut I was not anticipating, and the epilogue has definitely set things up to be even more epic in Devastation. Though, Destruction (despite its title) isn't all doom and gloom. We are showered with love as always, and I absolutely adore the scenes between Layla, Quin and their coven. My only gripe is that I didn't get to see more of our little angel Alana.

I'm so relieved Argo and his threats were eliminated. I'm still frustrated with Layla she acts so weak to be the greatest witch in the world. Quinn has taken over all the worrying. I absolutely love Quinn. Maybe that's why she sits back and let him take care of her but she's the strongest. But reading she doesn't act like she's knows she stronger than him. I hope we get more growth in her character. Now Quinn I still totally love with all he's been through...... Now the happiness and joy in this book had me excited, crying and anxious. But their happiness is awesome. I love the way they love each other. And oh my gosh the family love in the coven makes their journey great. What a love love story. Now Dark Guild assassin is after her. How in the heck did Quinn and Layla separate from each other know that Dark Guild assassin worst than Argo. And this ending broke me heart.

This had been a long time coming for me. I had purchased it right when it first came out but couldn't bring myself to read it because I wanted to make the series last for a long time. I finally reread the series and have throughly enjoyed my time meeting my favorite characters and the awesome world that the author had created. I enjoyed this a great deal but do be prepared for tears.

**ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review**DOUBLE REVIEW OF DESTRUCTION (MYSTIC #5) AND DEVASTATION (MYSTIC #5)**This series must be read in order. They are NOT standalones**B.C. Burgess’ decision to release both of these books on the same day was a fantastic decision. I was up until 4 in the morning reading them both. I was just wanting to finish Destruction, but with the way it ended, I had to dive straight into Devastation afterwards. Layla and Quin haven’t even been together for a year, but they have been through so much together. What happens in these two books is unpredictable and wild. It’s a rollercoaster of a journey that I don’t think I will ever recover from.“All I can do is to take comfort in the hope that, no matter what I do, where I go, or what becomes of me, the people and the home I love will stay safe, and that I’ll always have you with me to hold me, love me, talk to me, and help me through the flames.”“You will. Always.”I’ve been terrified to write this review, because I’m scared of going back and opening the books to include quotes. These two books are more powerful than the other four combined! So much goes on, and you never see any of it coming! It’s such an emotional ride. I was wrecked by the time I finished them at four in the morning! I had to read them back to back. There’s definitely a reason that B.C. released them at the same time. I know I already said this, but I’m just preparing you!“Yes, if for some reason I were to lose him, I’d be beyond crushed. It would destroy me. But this is the only life I’m going to get, and the best thing about my life is Quin. So why on earth would I let him go? I’m willing to take any risk imaginable to keep him, and nothing in the world will stop me from accepting what he has to offer.”With that being said, I can’t say anything about the plot. Anything I talk about will probably be a spoiler! And there’s a reason that the synopses for both books are vague. It’s best to just jump in. You’ll drown and you’ll get your heart shattered into a million pieces. And when your heart is put back together, it’ll still have cracks and pieces missing. But, hey, I say it’s well worth it. Isn’t that why we read? To feel? To go on an adventure that you in real life could never ever embark on? Well that’s definitely what it’s like to go into Layla and Quin’s world.“If you have even the tiniest doubt about how much I love you, tell me and I’ll make it go away, because there’s nothing I love more than you. I’d do anything to prove that every minute of every day, and I’ll never stop trying, no matter how many battles we face.”Sigh, Quin… He’s just so perfect. It’s unreal how devoted he is to Layla and how he strives to be everything she needs. We see a lotttt of new sides to Quin. We see his darker sides, and we see what he’s like when he’s under stress and pain. And Layla, holy crap, there are no words for what Layla has to go through. She’s a changed person by the end of book 5. Again, I can’t say anything, but she definitely took a few hits to my heart with a hammer. I’ll never recover. Thankfully, we still see that amazingly strong bond between Quin and Layla. Honestly, the love that these two share was what got me through this book. They’re so perfect for each other. Hopelessly devoted. Ridiculously sexy. And sometimes nauseatingly sweet. You know, when they’re not getting almost killed. Which happens pretty much every book in this series. We see them go through some of their hardest trials to date, and they prove that they’re not the most perfect couple ever. Yet, they still make it.“I didn’t fall in love with part of you, Layla. I fell for the whole package. And you can stop looking for my angel, because I’m staring at her. You may be different than the woman I met months ago, but the woman you are today is just as stunning, and I’m madly in love with her.”This is probably the vaguest review I have ever written. But, if you ever get to these books, you’ll know why. Everything I could possibly say that is plot related would be a spoiler! I mean, I guess I could keep going on and on about how perfect Quin is and how I’ll never find a man like him and how he’s ruined me for real men… Or you could read the book and find out for yourself. I could also go on about how much I freaking love B.C. Burgess. Then again, doesn’t everyone? I’ll just stop by saying that I’m ridiculously scared to see what’s next in store for Quin and Layla…“I love you. I love how much you love me, and the lengths you go to for me…the distances you’ve gone. I couldn’t do it without you and I can’t tell you what it means to me to have someone willing to stick with me through all this. I know it’s not easy.”“Loving you is like breathing, Layla—natural and necessary. Every breath of you is a breath of life, and living never felt so good. If I have to fight my way through hell to keep you, that’s exactly what I’ll do.”See full review here http://www.romanceaddictbookblog.com/...

As with all of BC Burgess’ books Destruction picks up right where we left our favorite couple at the end of Retribution. Relieved Argo and his threats were eliminated, grateful Quin’s life was spared yet anxious and nervous for his and Layla’s future together. Would they be able to weather another storm and how would the news of their untraditional bonding affect the nature their relationship?Destruction completely surprised me, but in the best way possible. I had prepared myself for heartbreak, a small part of me thought maybe just maybe our couple would momentarily go their separate ways. Fortunately, BC Burgess took this story in another direction all together. Yes, my heart did break, and yes I was shocked, but honestly I never saw the storyline of this book coming.BC Burgess quickly sets up the next impending threat, challenges our couple and leave us for a short while with with a Quin like we’ve never seen before. I truly appreciated seeing this side of him. Putting Quin into a situation which highlights his greatest weakness and forces him to once and for all deal with his self-doubt in deserving Layla, allows us to remember that while Quin may seem perfect, he’s still just a regular guy, madly in love with a woman he doesn’t feel he deserves. Looking back I think it was necessary for Quin to struggle, because in the end it forced him to really grow as a character and we were left with a stronger, more confident and even more appreciative man.The biggest surprise for me with this installment however was all the joy and happiness which filled the pages. For me, book 5, was truly the calm before the storm. I enjoyed watching Quin and Layla experience so much happiness and seeing such wonderful, beautiful memories being made. It was as though they were just a normal man and woman experiencing and taking advantage of all life has to offer.Of course all good things must come to an end and the dangers surrounding Layla continued to lurk, simply waiting for the perfect moment to bring destruction back into their lives. So prepare yourself because when it comes, it takes a piece of Quin and Layla with it, that I’m not sure we’ll ever get back.Well done BC Burgess! Another perfect installment in an incredible roller coaster of a journey.http://romancerewind.blogspot.com/201...

***WARNING SOME SPOILERS MAY OCCUR***Book 5 Destruction begins right where we were left at the end of Retribution. Layla and Quin have recovered from battling and defeating Argo. Layla feels horrible for all that was destroyed and lives that were lost in that epic battle. But, there's more to come. Venetia brings news that the Earth Angel has much more to battle to save the Earth. Quin decides that Layla needs a vacation before she makes her decision whether or not to go with Venetia to see the Crusaders. Quin has Layla invite Travis to town. I love Travis!! The scenes with him are so heart warming!!! When they meet the Crusaders, they also meet two more wizards who are potential chosen guardians for Layla. Layla and Quin decide that they need to go home and decide what is best. There are so many emotional journeys that they go through. Layla is eventually kidnapped by the Dark Guild assassin....I am giving BOTH of these books 5 wonderful fantastic heart wrenching stars!!! It's so hard to write a review for these and NOT have tons of spoilers!!! I hope you don't think I've ruined the story for you because there is SO SO SO much more...but if I mentioned anything about those points, it will ruin the entire two books!!

The long anticipated wait is over!! “Destruction” is out and with “Devastation” to boot!! It’s the best thing to happen to a series reader! Well except the knowing that once you are done with book 6, the series is over :( Or is it (I haven’t finished with book 6 yet so I cannot say with any certainty) BUT, book 5, OMG, talk about a roller coaster ride of emotions!! There were no punches pulled here, especially when you get to the middle chapters. One minute you’re crying, the next you’re ready to kill someone, and then you’re laughing your ass off. It almost makes you experience how Layla is constantly feeling. “Destruction” is in no way disappointing. You’re once again propelled into the adventures of Quin & Layla, but this time with a bombshell you really never see coming until it hits square in the head!! I’m dying to see how the adventure ends in “Devastation.” I have no doubt it will be heart wrenching to say the least. If you’re an avid reader of the series, you know what I mean. If you are not, then what the hell are you waiting for!! Get your but in gear and get reading!!

This is definitely not a series that you can read out of order. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the author took the time to note that at the beginning of the book. Not all authors would bother.I almost inhaled this book. I just could not put it down. The plot continues to unfold and Layla continues to grow as a person and magically. Her heart and warmth are amazing after all she's been through. She may not be the same character that started the series, but I find that the changes made are positive. She has a strength and confidence now that just make her even more amazing.Once again, I feel I must say that this is definitely a novel for adults, ages 18+ due to the sexual content.

Really? REALLY?!?! I should have known. BC Burgess blew me away again. Right when you think things could finally be turning around for Quin and Layla she goes and throws the worlds biggest monkey wrench in the cogs. It was amazing. It was horrible. I could not believe all the new developments in the series. I was hanging on to every word from beginning to end. There were a lot of new settings in this book and each of them were so beautifully described I feel like I deserve a passport stamp. My heart is still in knots from the "Destruction" this book has caused and I LOVE IT! Ok, enough writing.. where did I put book 6....

I am still a fan of this series, but this wasn't my favourite. I got frustrated with Layla and would have liked to see some growth from her character. She just put her head in the sand and left all the worry and planning to Quinn. Now Quinn I still totally love - such a sweetheart. The writing and plot were still strong and made me get through this pretty quick - and thankfully straight on to the 6th in the series, that was released at the same time as Destruction as there is a pretty big cliffy!

As with the rest of the books, this one was no different. They are all amazing! I am so glad that it finally came out. I've already purchased the next book. Thank goodness it came out at the same time. I don't think I could have waited.
