Little Miss Trouble And The Mermaid Reviews
I haven't been shy about my hatred for Little Miss Trouble before. This bitch needs a serious attitude adjustment. This book, however, almost redeems her in a way. The story goes that LMT (as she will be known for the remainder of this review) goes fishing or something, after treating people like shit for a bit (which is kind of her thing). Instead of nothing, which is all she deserves in life, she catches a mermaid. This mermaid wants absolutely none of her shit. She places a gypsy curse on LMT and warns that if she tries to cause trouble, she'll blow bubbles or something. Not entirely the harshest of punishments, but that would be pretty annoying. LMT refrains from causing any trouble only as long as it took for her to get back to land. Once there she goes back to being a bitch. Just as that hot mermaid said, she blows bubbles. This is enough for LMT to reconsider her entire life. She stops being trouble and starts building sandcastles. It's unclear if she always had that talent, or if the sexy mermaid gave her powers in exchange for stripping her of her identity. This brings up further questions surrounding the Mr/Little Missiverse. Is LMT born trouble? Did someone look at her when she was a baby and say "Myep, I can see the cuntiness already". If so, was she destined to be a horrible festering sore of a person, or did she grow into the expectations? And even if neither of these are true, and she got the name afterwards when people noticed that she was a shitstain, does the fact that she builds sandcastles now change that? Is she Little Miss Sandcastle? That's a little more specific than the others in this world. Mr. Muddle isn't Mr. Eats A Letter Because He's Also An Idiot. Would they call her Little Miss Reformed, or something similar? These questions aren't answered in this book, so I can't give it the full 5 stars.
I absolutely loved these Mr Men and Little Miss books. I remember getting them from my granny every week. There was so much from these simple characters, I remember filling my little bookshelf with all these books making sure I had got them all in right order. I wish I still had these books but somehow most of them got lost with many house moves or my mum gave the rest away. If I ever have kids, I will make sure they get the chance to experience these wonderful, colourful books.
This isn't my favorite of the Little Miss books, but considering we have read it OVER and OVER in the three days since we have had it, I'd venture to say it is probably one of CC's favorites. This is one of the newer titles, written by Adam Hargreaves to add to his Dad's series.
Another interesting new Little Miss book. This one is a favourite due to loving mermaids! I was worried the mermaid would not be good - and she's not terribly good but teaches Little Miss Trouble a lesson and we all learn what's right and wrong behavior.
A good book for children with a moral twist on how you shouldn't lie about other people.
